Mastermind Arrested: Marvin Halaman Miranda was detained for the Murder of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
The murder of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo in the Pamplona massacre sent shockwaves through the Philippines.
The governor was distributing aid in Pamplona when he was gunned down along with eight others. Now, investigators believe they have found the missing piece of the puzzle in the form of Marvin Miranda.
Miranda is a military reservist with a solid connection to Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr., who is believed to be the main mastermind behind the killing. Teves allegedly pulled the strings that led to Miranda’s involvement in the Degamo slay.
“We are now at the tail-end of our quest for justice and hunt for the masterminds behind the death of Gov. Degamo,” said (DILG) Department of the Interior & Local Government Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr.
Miranda’s apprehension marks a crucial milestone in the investigation, as he is thought to possess essential information that could potentially lead to the capture of other suspects involved in the Pamplona massacre.
His arrest could also shed light on the motives behind the assassination and bring closure to the victims’ families.

Marvin Halaman Miranda- Arrested For Gov. Roel Degamo Murder
The Philippine authorities have detained Marvin Halaman Miranda for his involvement in the murder of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
His arrest on March 31 in Mayabay, Barbasa, Antique, was confirmed by Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr.
A composite team of National Bureau of Investigation members, the Philippine National Police & the Armed Forces of the Philippines arrested Miranda. However, he was detained without a warrant and has yet to face any charges.
Miranda is suspected of being one of the main conspirators behind the assassination of Governor Roel Degamo.
According to the DOJ chief, he was the long-time security and bodyguard of Rep. Arnolfo Teves, who is believed to have paid for the firearms used in the assassination.
With Miranda’s arrest, the authorities have now detained 11 suspects and killed one in the murder case of Governor Roel Degamo.
The Public Attorney’s Office is representing Miranda and not a private lawyer. The DOJ chief believes that the case is now 99 percent solved.
Marvin Halaman Arrest Cause: Did He Murder Roel Degamo?
Marvin Halaman Miranda has been linked to the recruitment of people and firearms used in the attack that resulted in the death of Roel Degamo on March 4, according to news info.
Miranda was involved in the killing of Degamo, but it has not been confirmed if he was the one who took Degamo’s life.
On that fateful day, men with firearms rushed into the provincial governor’s House and fired at the people there to receive aid.
The incident left nine dead and dozens injured. Miranda’s alleged involvement in the attack led to his arrest on March 31 in Mayabay, Barbasa, Antique.
Miranda has a criminal record and was arrested on June 29, 2020, for illegally possessing firearms, violating Republic Act 1-00591. He pleaded guilty to a lesser offense and was sentenced to one to two years imprisonment and a fine.
Miranda is in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation, and investigations are ongoing to determine his exact role in the assassination of Governor Degamo.
