Marion’s death has shocked the community and the outdoor sector, to which he has made significant contributions throughout his life.

“We convey the terrible and tragic news of the demise of our legend, Marion McCollum, who dedicated his life to teaching the next generation the tradition of the outdoor sportsman,” MPW said on Facebook.

“Mack’s Prairie Wings will never be the same, but we guarantee that his legacy will live on as we continue to serve our customers in the manner that Marion taught us.”

Marion McCollum Family And Carrer Explored

Marion McCollum joined the family company in the 1960s after growing up in Stuttgart and sharing a passion for waterfowling. 

He was critical to the development and expansion of Mack’s Prairie Wings. Marion established Mack’s mail-order section in 1993, rapidly growing into a substantial enterprise in a 95,000-square-foot shipping warehouse.

Marion McCollum worked for Mack’s Prairie Wings, a well-known outdoor business in Stuttgart, Arkansas.

Marion’s father, M.T. McCollum, noticed the possibility of supplying waterfowl hunters in 1945 and developed a duck and goose hunting department within the McCollum Hardware shop. 

Mack’s flourished and grew into a profitable business throughout the years, eventually transferring to its current 42,000-square-foot retail facility.

Marion’s commitment to his profession and influence in the outdoor culture was tremendous. 

Under his guidance, Mack’s Prairie Wings formed a close partnership with Winchester, a well-known gun manufacturer.

Winchester and Mack’s collaboration was founded on common ideals of honesty, creativity, and customer concern.
