Is Maigo Killer arrested? A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested at the Olympic Village in the sprawling Kibera slums in connection with the murder of Maigo.

Maigo, who served as the Acting Finance Director at Nairobi Hospital, was tragically discovered lifeless in a pool of blood on September 15, with his body bearing 25 stab wounds.

At the crime scene, authorities recovered two blood-stained knives believed to be the murder weapons.

The murder of Maigo sent shockwaves through the Nairobi community, as he was known for his kindness, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to his profession and family.

The primary suspect, Ann Adhiambo Akinyi, in the murder case of Eric Maigo, Finance Director at Nairobi Hospital, has been placed in custody for 21 days, awaiting the outcome of ongoing investigations.

Maigo Killer Arrested: Is It True?

Yes, the Maigo killer has been arrested for 21 days pending investigation.

Ann Adhiambo Akinyi, who had been evading capture since the previous Thursday, was arrested in Kibra as part of an intelligence-driven operation conducted by detectives from (DCI) the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

She is in custody at Muthaiga Police Station and will soon be transferred to Kilimani Police Station, overseeing the case.

Eric Maigo endured a harrowing attack, suffering 25 stab wounds, on the morning of Friday, September 15, 2023.

Videos revealed the suspect’s attempt to flee from the scene, scaling the perimeter wall of the victim’s residence at Woodley Annex–Upper.

Further, in an official statement issued on Friday, the DCI disclosed that the images of the suspect circulated on the internet the previous Thursday had resulted in the recovery of the clothing she had been wearing in Bombolulu village, Kibra.

Another individual, Cynthia Lusega Andalo, had previously been arrested and charged with the heinous murder.

However, the court ordered her release after the prosecution stated they lacked sufficient evidence to press charges or continue detaining her as a suspect.

The primary suspect, Ann Adhiambo Akinyi, implicated in the murder of Eric Maigo, Finance Director at Nairobi Hospital, has been detained for 21 days to facilitate ongoing investigations.

The 16-year-old girl, who appeared before the court on Wednesday, was apprehended in the Olympic area within Kibera.

Her presence near the crime scene was captured on CCTV footage, where she was scaling perimeter walls. This prompted detectives to launch an extensive citywide search.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations located and detained Ann Adhiambo Akinyi in Kibra, employing an intelligence-driven operation, after missing and evading authorities since the previous Thursday.

Currently, she is being held at Muthaiga Police Station, pending her eventual transfer to Kilimani Police Station, the jurisdiction responsible for handling the case.

A miscellaneous application filed by Corporal Patrick Boge noted that her arrest followed a murder report in Woodly Annex, Kibra, within the Kilimani area.

The investigating officer, Corporal Patrick Obege, also highlighted that essential witnesses had not yet provided their statements, and DNA samples were awaiting analysis at the government chemist.

The application stated, “The investigating officer is yet to ascertain injuries inflicted when escaping from the crime scene, forwarding the case file to the ODPP for perusal and advice, and not limited to the respondents’ production before a court of law for further direction.”

Additionally, the police plan to arrange a medical assessment for the suspect. The 16-year-old is scheduled to appear in court again on October 18.
