Layla Julien was a former member of the Minnetonka High School. 

During her Junior and Senior years, she served as a Dance Captain. Her family and friends loved Layla, and her presence always brought joy and positivity.

She had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor and was always kind and inclusive toward others.

Layla’s strength and grace were remarkable, especially during the last 16 months when she fought against her brain tumor. She will always be remembered and missed by those who knew her.

Besides this, Layla was outgoing and ready to help her teammates and anyone else, both within and outside dance. She had a big heart and was known for her kindness and willingness to support the people she cared about.

She significantly impacted the Minnetonka JFK community, and her talent as a dancer brought energy to the competitions she participated in.

Layla Julien, a Minnetonka, Minnesota dancer, has passed away.

She fought bravely against a brain tumor and was surrounded by her family when she died on December 14, 2022.

Just For Kix announced her death in a message that expressed great sadness, describing Layla as a fantastic dancer, coach, teammate, and friend.

In August 2021, they found Layla’s brain tumor; she showed incredible courage and strength while battling it.

Layla was a fantastic person to be around, and she inspired many people who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a talented dancer who brought a lot of energy to the competitions she participated in.

On the other hand, Layla’s best friends and fellow dancers, who were also part of the Minnetonka High School dance team, continue to remember and honor her memory.

On Layla’s 19th birthday, they organized a big garage sale. Surprisingly, they raised over $4,500 in just a few hours.

“We didn’t expect much, maybe just $50 or one person showing up. But then all these people came to support Layla,” said Layla’s friend Katie Lesmeister.

Angie Lindberg set up a particular GoFundMe page for Robbin Julien. This page aimed to collect money to assist Layla Julien’s medical expenses.

When writing this article, $144,389 had been donated. This generous amount was contributed by 1,000 individuals, with the largest donation being $5,000. The main target for the fundraiser was to reach $180,000.

Her family and friends adored Layla, and she had a unique way of brightening up any room with her smile, sense of humor, kindness, and inclusiveness. Since birth, Layla has been like a beautiful angel, both inside and out.

She displayed incredible strength and grace throughout her last 16 months. Further, Layla is survived by her mom, Laura Julien, her dad, Robbin Julien, and her younger sister, Georgie Julien. Layla’s grandmother, Nancy Malecha, passed away before her.
