Engineer and economist Klaus Schwab founded the World Economic Forum in 1971. Since then, he has been serving as the chairman of the organization.

Schwab was born in March 1938 in Ravensburg, Germany. He studied mechanical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

Furthermore, he received a Master of Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government of Havard University. He was awarded a doctorate in economics from the University of Fribourg.

Moreover, from 1972 to 2003, Klaus Schwab served as a professor of business policy at the University of Geneva. He established the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship in 1998 with his wife, Hilde Schwab.
