More than 50 years after his ordination, Bishop Manz lived among the Spanish immigrant population he served throughout his career and was lovingly known as “Father Juan.”
Throughout his ministry, he was an outspoken supporter of immigrant rights. He devoted his life to assisting the Spanish immigrant population, seeking to understand their specific concerns and advocating for a more equitable society.
His dedication to justice went beyond words, as he actively served on committees of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
Bishop Manz’s genuine care for migrant workers and his trips to Latin American nations demonstrated his commitment to establishing a world in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
