Jeff Shell, an American media Executive, held the CEO position at NBCUniversal, a Comcast subsidiary, from 2019-2023.
His career in the media industry began in 1993 at the Walt Disney Company, where he worked in strategic planning and business development.
Following this, he joined News Corporation as president of the Fox Cable Networks Group in 1998. He later served as CEO of Gemstar-TV Guide International, a Company providing interactive program guide services.
After joining NBCUniversal in 2011, Shell initially served as the chairman of NBCUniversal International before transitioning to the chairman of NBCUniversal Film and Entertainment.
He oversaw the Company’s movie and theme park businesses in this capacity. In 2019, he was promoted to CEO of NBCUniversal, succeeding Steve Burke.

According to sources cited by Deadline, Hadley Gamble, a CNBC anchor and Senior International Correspondent, was the woman who filed the complaint against NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell for inappropriate conduct.
Comcast, the parent Company of NBCU, announced Shell’s departure today following an investigation by outside counsel.
In a statement, Shell admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the Company, which he deeply regrets.
Deadline has learned that Shell’s relationship with Gamble began approximately 11 years ago and continued sporadically until it ended a couple of years ago.
Shell served as chairman of NBCUniversal International from 2011 to 2013 before becoming chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment and eventually becoming CEO of NBCU in 2020.
Sources have indicated that the complaint against Jeff Shell was filed within the last month and was addressed through the proper channels, ultimately reaching Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts.
The matter was dealt with promptly, and an external law firm was engaged to investigate. According to sources, the law firm provided its findings to top Comcast executives within the past week.
During the investigation, it appeared that Shell and Gamble had communicated via Company email.

Jeff Shell, the CEO of NBCUniversal, announced his resignation on Sunday after admitting to an inappropriate relationship with Gamble which started about 11 years ago and continued sporadically until a couple of years ago when it ended.
Shell apologized to his colleagues and expressed regret for his actions. During his tenure, Shell focused on expanding the Company’s streaming service, Peacock.
Shell is the second media Executive to step down in the past two years over an inappropriate relationship with a team member, following former CNN boss Jeff Zucker.

Jeff Shell is married to his wife, Laura Shell, and the two share three children.
Jeff and Laura have a loving and supportive relationship rooted in their interest in the entertainment industry.
