Speculations about Fatima Whitbread Sexuality have always been a topic of interest among many netizens, but some rumors are just obnoxious and ridiculous.
“Is Fatima Whitbread Man?” a bot account tweeted and got a highlight on several social media platforms sparking the decade-long talks and rumors about the sexuality of the retired British Javeline Thrower.
Whitbread achieved a world record in 1986, won Olympic medals twice, and later became a TV personality and sports commentator after retiring.
Having participated in four consecutive Olympic Games, her journey began in 1980 at the Moscow Olympics, where she secured sixth place.
Is Fatima Whitbread Man? Sexuality Explored
Whispers about Whitbread’s sexual orientation and gender identity have persisted during her professional journey, with much of the attention being directed toward her muscular build and deep vocal tones.
Born as Fatima Vedad to a Greek Cypriot Father and Turkish Cypriot Mother, Fatima grew up in care homes in London after her parents abandoned her.
Margaret Whitbread, a javelin coach, became Fatima’s adoptive mother and was pivotal in nurturing her burgeoning talent for the sport.
Whitbread faced abuse and bullying from some rivals, including Tessa Sanderson, who once made a derogatory comment about her sexuality and race.
She has consistently denied being gay or transgender and affirmed her comfort with her identity despite persistent rumors and speculation.
Fatima tied the knot with Andrew Norman in Copthorne, West Sussex, back in 1997, and they were blessed with a son, Ryan Norman.
While gender identity is a deeply personal and subjective matter “not determined by one’s reproductive capabilities or ability to give birth,” Fatima doesn’t identify herself as a man, gay or transgender.

Meet Fatima Whitbread Husband, Andrew Norman
From 1997 to 2006, Fatima was wedded to Andrew Norman, who had previously worked as a promoter in the athletics industry. In 1998, Fatima and Andrew welcomed their son, Ryan.
According to her autobiography published in 2012, Whitbread stated that she initiated a romantic involvement with Norman soon after his divorce in 1986.
Following a heart attack in 2007, Andrew passed away, leaving Fatima to mourn the loss of her husband.
After Andrew’s passing in 2007, Fatima decided not to enter another marriage. However, she has expressed willingness to embrace love once more if the opportunity presents itself.
Fatima shares a close bond with her son, who continues the family legacy as a talented javelin thrower.
Along with enjoying taking on new challenging endeavors like doing SFT (Special Forces Training) and climbing Mont Blanc, she is also a very generous woman who gives motivational speeches and charitable works.

Whitbread’s Husband Norman Accused of Falsely Slandering Journalist
In 1993, Journalist Cliff Temple inquired into allegations of preferential treatment received by athletes who were part of the Chafford Hundred Athletic Club.
Temple found evidence that Norman showed favoritism to athletes at the Chafford Hundred Athletic Club, which was managed by Whitbread and included athletes under Norman’s guidance.
His article in The Sunday Times highlighted a conflict of interests between Norman’s role in the British Athletics Federation(BAF) and the Chafford Hundred Athletic Club. Sadly, Temple died by suicide the following year.
During the inquest into Temple’s death, it was revealed that Norman had made false accusations and threatened him.
Norman alleged that Temple had engaged in sexual harassment of Shireen Bailey, an athlete whom he coached. However, Bailey denied the allegations made by Norman.
As a result of the inquiry conducted by the BAF, Norman was removed from his position as promotions officer.
The inquiry into Temple’s death determined that, while the breakdown of his marriage was a factor that contributed to his suicide, the allegations made by Norman were the tipping point.
