It occurred outside the victim’s apartment in Spalding Heights at approximately 1 am, as reported by the county sheriff’s office.
According to Sheriff Darrell Dix, one of the bullets intended for the target missed its mark and struck the young girl, killing her instantly.

Has Kionta Parks Been Arrested? Man Alleged To Have Killed A Louisiana Girl
Kionta Parks has not yet been arrested.
He is wanted on 14 counts of violating the Georgia Criminal Street Gang Act, three counts of aggravated assault, one count of felony murder, four counts of possessing a firearm while committing a crime, one count of cruelty to children, and one count of domestic terrorism, according to Sheriff Darrell Dix.
Currently, he is considered armed and dangerous. Additionally, Parks is wanted for cruelty to children and domestic terrorism.
Sheriff Dix believes the shooting was gang-related, as Parks was firing many rounds toward an individual who pulled into the parking lot about 100 yards away with a rifle.
The sheriff also revealed that warrants had been issued for a shooting in the same apartment complex on February 14, although no one was injured.
Further, Sheriff Dix expressed his outrage at the senseless loss of life, stating that it was “ridiculous” that such potential could be wiped away because of gang affiliations or perceived grievances.
The Police have stated that the investigation into the fatal shooting of the 11-year-old girl is ongoing, and more information will be provided later.
The county sheriff’s office also supports the victim’s family by assisting them with housing arrangements and financial expenses.
On the other hand, channel 2’s Bryan Mims spoke to Marshelle Atkinson, a neighbor who heard the gunshots and is deeply affected by the tragedy due to the recent loss of her nephew to gun violence. Atkinson urged to end gun violence, saying, “Put the guns away.”
The incident marks the second time in just eight days that a child in Georgia has been killed while sleeping in their bedroom.
On March 7, 10-year-old Damarion Byrd was fatally shot in his home in Baldwin County, and several individuals have been arrested in connection to that incident.
