Five-Year Veteran Chicago Police Officer Death
Police announced that a Chicago Police officer was shot and died on the city’s Southwest side on March 1, 2023.
He was shot shortly before 4:45 pm near Gage Park in the 5200 block of South Spaulding Avenue, he said at a press conference.
According to Brown, two Police cruisers responded to a domestic-related call of a man chasing a woman down the street while brandishing a gun.
After being shot many times, an officer passed away at Mount Sinai Medical Center. According to Brown, the 18-year-old was shot in the head and is in critical condition.
The killed officer, he told reporters, had served with the Chicago Police Department for five years & had a bright future ahead of him. Brown said the news of the tragic gunshot was still being delivered to the relatives.
Brown said they are taking this tragedy very hard because they are a family of public employees. There should be no family that has to deal with this.
He stated that detectives were still putting the puzzle pieces together as of Wednesday night and that the department was providing COPA with the evidence.

Two Police cars arrived on the scene with officers. While officers in the second car got engaged with an 18-year-old guy who started fleeing from authorities with a gun, officers in the first car knocked on the door of a residence on that block, according to Brown.
According to Brown, the officer and the suspect exchanged bullets “at close range” as the Police chased them.
He added the officer was shot several times. He added that the officer was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in severe condition and later died from his wounds.
The Police were aware that the call involved a gun owner. The 18-year-old turned as authorities identified him as the culprit and shot the officer “quickly without warning or notice.
Additionally, Brown claimed, “They were there to safeguard this victim. They were prepared to risk their lives to keep the victim safe.
