According to several reports, the resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, committed suicide on March 16, 2025, at 17.
However, the exact cause of suicide has not been officially revealed as the investigation is ongoing.
The tragic loss of Jessica devastated the entire Fort Wayne community.
On March 17, 2025, Carroll High School’s principal, Cleve Million, shared his heartfelt condolences and prayed for Jessica’s family. He said,
It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the passing of one of our students, Jessica Jennings. Jessica died by suicide. What we know is that we have a family in our community that is hurting and grieving the loss of their child, sister and family member. Suicide is a difficult and complex issue, and we encourage open and compassionate conversations. It is natural to have many emotions and questions, and we want you to know that you are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, please seek support—help is available. As we process this loss together, I ask that we be respectful of Jessica’s family and their privacy during this incredibly difficult time. We will share any details about memorial arrangements if and when the family wishes to do so.
Jessica’s tragic death has also raised a concern about student’s mental health.
Therefore, principal Cleve Million announced that, in the coming days, mental health professionals will be made available to students and staff suffering from mental health problems through the partnership with Parkview Hospital.
Cleve also said the school will offer support services for students and faculty needing assistance processing this tragedy.
The Wolcottville residents Patty and Tony London also mourned Jessica’s loss and prayed to her family. They wrote,
We are so incredibly sorry for your heartbreaking loss. There are no words that can truly ease your pain, but please know that our hearts and prayers are with you during this unimaginable time. I pray that you find strength, comfort, and peace in the love of those around you and in the precious memories of Jessica.
On March 18, 2025, Fort Wayne resident Andrew and Sadie Kirk sent their heartfelt condolence to Jessica’s family to stay strong in this heartbreaking moment. They wrote,
