The incident happened when two helicopters collided in La Rioga province while filming the French television series Dropped.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, along with Camille, other sports stars, yachtswoman Florence Arthau and Olympic boxer Alexis Vastina were killed in the incident.
Furthermore, five crew members and two pilots died in the accident. As per the source, both the pilots were experienced and skilled, but at the time, they failed to realize how close their Eurocopters were flying together.
As per the investigations, no damage or technical problems were found in the crafts. Along with Camille, Florence and Arthau, several other athletes were featured in the Dropped.
Dropped was a reality survival series, but after the incident, it was immediately canceled. In the series, sports stars were blindfolded in rugged environments, and they were given 72 hours to get to a place where they could charge their cell phone.
The environment and weather were good and acceptable during that day. Investigations tell that it was the Pilot’s lack of perception, and they failed to realize the required closeness of the aircraft.
Some suggest that the Pilot might have been blinded by the sun. Some also think photographers’ need to record the images might have affected the Pilot’s vision control or caused distractions.
