Determined to combat the disease, he underwent an intensive treatment regimen comprising six weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, followed by surgical intervention to remove a portion of his colon.
The treatment continued into early 2011 with further rounds of chemotherapy.
In a subsequent development, in December 2022, Raskin shared the news of being diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
Undeterred by this additional health obstacle, he embarked on a course of chemoimmunotherapy, which he diligently completed by April 2023.
Similarly, on April 27, Raskin announced that his Cancer was in remission, signifying a positive outcome in his ongoing battle against the disease.

During an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union,” Raskin responded to inquiries about his interest in pursuing the seat of retiring Democratic Senator Ben Cardin.
While he acknowledged his fondness for the House of Representatives, his fellow House colleagues have reminded him that Senate seats become available only once every 25 or 30 years, which has sparked encouragement from many to explore the possibility.
“I have not made a decision,” Raskin stated. “I deeply value my role in the House of Representatives, the camaraderie with my colleagues, and the privilege of serving in the People’s House. However, I have received numerous suggestions to consider the Senate option.”
