The Farmington community was thrust into chaos and grief as Shirley Voita, along with Gwendolyn Schofield and Melanie Ivie, mother and daughter, were ruthlessly targeted in a hail of gunfire before the assailant was neutralized by law enforcement.

The scene of the tragedy witnessed Schofield and Ivie succumbing to their injuries on-site. At the same time, Voita, another victim, was rushed to “San Juan Regional Medical Center,” where she tragically passed away.

The shocking incident also inflicted harm upon several others, spanning ages from their 30s to their 70s, who suffered either from direct gunfire or the shattered glass as bullets shattered their windows.

Although the shooter’s rampage impacted at most minuscule six residences lining the busy street adorned with churches and homes in a serene middle-class neighborhood, only those within vehicles bore the brunt of the gunfire-induced injuries.

Amidst the chaos, Farmington Police Department Sergeant Rachel Discenza sustained a gunshot wound to her pelvic region during the shootout with the perpetrator.

Likewise, New Mexico State Police Officer Andreas Stamatiadas was injured by gunfire en route to the scene. Both have since received medical treatment and have been discharged.

In a chilling moment captured on video, the suspect, who had been aimlessly wandering in a churchyard, was struck by gunfire and collapsed at the scene, bringing the rampage to an end.
