A Canadian tattoo artist has been the topic of TikTok’s newest Drama, #tattoogate when clients revealed their poor experiences with the artist, ranging from excessive price and design costs to one less-than-impressive fox tattoo.
Tattoos have always been a contentious matter of discussion. Although humans have practiced the art form for thousands of years, confident people and areas still see it as somewhat forbidden.

The newest tattoo and tattoo artist topic has taken TikTok by storm, with one artist being chastised for attempting to charge a customer more for designs, with the issue being dubbed “tattoogate.”
Courtney Monteith Tiktok Tattoogate Viral Video- What Happened?
On May 10, a TikTok user called Courtney Monteith posted multiple videos regarding her encounter with an anonymous tattoo artist, who was eventually found to be Lindsay Joseph of Lucid Tattoos.
The mother of three documented her visits with Joseph in a video before displaying a tattoo drawing that did not reflect what she had desired.
“I wanted a tattoo by this artist that I like,” Monteith said at the start of his debut TikTok video. She scheduled a consultation with Joseph and paid a non-refundable charge of $180. The tattoo artist informed Monteith about her tiered tattoo price after their appointment.

The first option, which cost $1,500 plus tax, included a tattoo idea drawing with one minor adjustment and a final design approval. For $3,500 plus tax, her second tattoo choice included two idea designs, a few modifications, and a final design review.
The ultimate cost for many sketches, evaluations, and a canvas of the idea sketch was above $6,000.
“At first, I assumed the amount would be deducted from the final cost of my tattoo, but then I found out that it wasn’t,” Monteith explained.
“I was still caught off guard. I was at a loss for words. She asked which choice was best for me, and I immediately chose number one because it’s the most costly.”
Who Is Lindsay Joseph? Backlashing Artist
Initially, the tattoo artist’s name was not revealed in Courtney’s videos. According to later accounts, the artist in question is Lindsay Joseph of Lucid Tattoos.
Lindsay Joseph’s name got associated with the #Tattoogate incident, spawning more conversations and arguments across other platforms.
The incident soon gathered traction on social media platforms following the release of Courtney’s TikTok videos. People showed their support for Courtney and their displeasure with Lindsay Joseph’s reported behavior.
The hashtag #Tattoogate trended, and conversations heated up as more people became aware of the scandal. The event triggered discussions on tattoo business ethics and the significance of clear communication between artists and clients.
Lindsay Joseph or Lucid Tattoos have not issued an official comment or responded to the charges stated in Courtney Monteith’s TikTok videos.
