A judge in East Texas has granted a stay of execution to a man convicted of fatally assaulting a youngster. Blaine Milam, 29, was condemned to death in 2010 for killing Amora Carson, a 13-month-old girl.

Amora died in December 2008. During a purported exorcism, Milam performed at his House with his then-girlfriend Jessica Carson; she was bitten many times and assaulted with a hammer.

Amora experienced 24 human bites and several fractures in the final hours of her life. Her injuries were caused by an exorcism attempt by her mother and her mother’s fiancĂ©. They felt Amora was possessed by a demon and sought to exorcise her, which resulted in her death.

Jessica Carson was sentenced to life in prison in April 2011 after being convicted of torturing and murdering her daughter. Blaine Keith Milam was also convicted and condemned to die for the murder. Milam’s execution, however, was halted in 2021, and the case is currently underway.

Milam’s trial, transferred from Rusk County in East Texas to Montgomery County due to pre-trial publicity, began its third day of testimony on Wednesday.

The trial is being presided over by Rusk County Judge J. Clay Gossett of the 4th State District Court. Rusk County District Attorney Micheal Jimerson and Lisa Tanner, assistant state attorney general, represent the state.

Pinckard detailed Amora’s injuries and pointed them out in autopsy images during Tanner’s questioning. The horrific photographs of the 23-pound kid shook several jurors.

One male juror bowed and covered his eyes while another wiped away tears. Milam, dressed in a dark blue blazer and a white shirt, never looked at the photographs.
