Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson revealed early Monday evening.
The defendant will be charged with two felony charges of aggravated violence and assault with a dangerous weapon, according to Clay County Attorney Zachary Thompson. If convicted, the defendant might face lengthy prison terms.

“This is a huge relief. I’m content. This is just what we were hoping for. It’s arrived.”
Yarl’s counsel urged him not to speak on particular allegations, but Zachary Thompson stated that if Andrew is found guilty, he will face at least ten years in jail and up to thirty years in prison.

Andrew was then charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal activity. The district attorney stated that the case had a racial component.
Andrew Daniel Lester, 84, was named Ralph Yarl’s suspect. Andrew is a native of Virginia. He used to work as a technician for American West Airlines.
Andrew was arrested in the early morning of April 14, 2023, for attempted assault charges, and he was recorded as out of detention and on general release the same day.
