Horrific Attack on Brazilian School Leaves Teacher Dead: Remembering the life of Elizabete Tenreiro and examining the troubling details of the 13-year-old attacker.
On a Monday morning, a 13-year-old student entered his classroom in Sao Paulo classroom wearing a black mask. What followed was a horrifying incident that left one teacher dead of a heart attack and three other students wounded.
According to CCTV footage, the Student approached the teacher, Elizabete Tenreiro, and stabbed her while she was taking attendance.
When a classmate tried to intervene, the masked Student attacked them, too, leaving one with a cut on their arm.
In the chaos, all the students rushed out of the classroom. Eventually, more staff members got involved and were able to pin down the Student.
One teacher, Cinthia Barbosa, was on the ground trying to prevent the Student from continuing the attack.
Guilherme Derrite, Secretary of Public Security, later commended Barbosa for her bravery, stating that the tragedy would have been much worse if she had not stopped the Student.

Who Is Elizabete Tenreiro? Teacher Stabbed By 13-Year-Old Student
Elizabete Tenreiro was a respected biology teacher at Thomazia Montoro State School in Vila Sonia. She had turned 71 years old just a few weeks before the tragic incident occurred.
After being injured in the attack, she was rushed to the University Hospital of USP, where she suffered a cardiac arrest and died.
Tenreiro was not only a dedicated teacher but also a passionate science advocate.
She utilized her Facebook account the months before her passing to promote the significance of getting vaccinated. She was also known for making humorous posts about chemistry and biology, as per otempo.
Before becoming a teacher, Tenreiro worked as a technician at the Adolfo Lutz Institute. She began teaching in 2015 after she retired from her previous job. According to Fernanda, Tenreiro’s daughter-in-law, Tenreiro was “in love with the classroom” and loved nothing more than teaching her students.
Outside the classroom, Tenreiro enjoyed samba and spending time with her children. She had two children, Marco Antonio and Liciana. May her soul rest in peace & her family finds strength and comfort during these difficult times.

Who Stabbed Elizabete Tenreiro?
The 13-year-The Police arrested the 13-year-old Student responsible for the attack and the incident.
However, his name has not been released to the public due to his age. He was taken into custody and quickly transferred to a local Police station.
According to reports, the attacker had only recently transferred to the Thomazia Montoro State School on March 15th.
Before that, he attended the Jose Roberto Pacheco State School in Taboo da Serra, where administrators reported him to the Police in February due to conduct issues.
The Daily Mail reported that the 13-year-old had exhibited suspicious behavior on social media, including posting compromising videos where he was seen carrying a firearm and simulating violent attacks.
Following the tragedy, the Department of Education closed Thomazia Montoro State School for a week to allow staff and students to process their grief and trauma.
The incident has raised serious concerns about school safety and the well-being of students and staff in Brazil and Sao Paulo.
