Anna Basalduaruiz Autopsy Report: Allegedly Harassed At Fort Hood Before Death
Anna’s parents have alleged that their daughter was a victim of sexual harassment from her peers, including one of her superiors, during her time at the Fort Hood base.
According to Univision, her mother recalls that Anna was under psychological treatment and had been feeling down for a few months.
The League of United American Citizens (LULAC), the largest Hispanic civil rights organization in the U.S., calls for justice to be served.
LULAC is demanding an in-depth investigation into the death of Anna Basalduaruiz and has requested the involvement of the FBI.
After conducting its investigation, Fort Hood maintains that there was no foul play in the death of Anna Basalduaruiz. However, LULAC is questioning the Army Criminal Investigation Division’s statement on her death and continues to push for a thorough investigation.
The military is currently investigating the alleged claims of sexual harassment and trying to piece together the events leading up to Anna’s tragic death.
Anna Basalduaruiz Parents: Where Is She From?
Anna Basalduaruiz was a 21-year-old former Army private in the United States. She was born to a Mexican mother, Alejandra Ruiz Zarco, and an American Father, Ubaldo Zabaldua.
Anna was of Mexican origin and a naturalized American who had planned to serve three years in the Army. She joined the Army in 2020, but due to the COVID pandemic, her military service was postponed for a year.
Her parents received the news of her death on Monday, March 13, at 1:10 pm. A U.S. military officer told them that Anna’s death was suspected to be suicide.
“I refuse to accept that was it. She was not like that. I don’t accept that because of my daughter’s characteristics,” says Alejandra, Anna’s mother.
This is not the first time Fort Hood has seen such a case. In April 2020, army officer Vanessa Guillen disappeared and was later found dead in a shallow grave.
Her family also said that Guillen was sexually harassed. A fellow soldier committed suicide after being confronted by the Police. This led to the punishment of 14 senior officers and raised concerns about the culture at the base.
Anna’s parents have expressed grief and sorrow over their daughter’s demise. They have also demanded justice for their daughter and a thorough investigation into the alleged claims of sexual harassment.
