Shaun Sanderson Arrested, Suspect For Double Stabbing At A Home In Reservoir
Shaun Sanderson was arrested at the intersection of Murray Street and St Georges Road in Preston, a suburb in Melbourne’s northern region, around 3 pm.
Before his arrest, a search was initiated after reports of an assault with a knife were received by emergency services, which subsequently responded to a residence on Willoughby St in Reservoir, located in the north of Melbourne, just after 8 am.
Initially, law enforcement officials presumed that Sanderson was holed up inside the residence and established a perimeter to negotiate with him.
Nonetheless, it was subsequently determined that he had departed from the premises.
The victim’s mother sustained severe upper body injuries and was promptly transported to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for treatment, whereas her son could not be revived.
Before this, a heavily armed Police team attempted to negotiate with Sanderson, using a megaphone to urge him to exit the home before recognizing that he was absent.
Although the full circumstances of the incident are still unknown, authorities believe everyone involved knew one another. Police posted two pictures of Sanderson before discovering him to learn more about his location.
What Did The Neighbour Say After The Incident?
Pam Egan, a resident of Willoughby Street, reportedly spotted the 65-year-old woman following the attack and notified the Herald Sun about it.
She said, “I heard that she had blood all over her as she fled across the street to the hospital.”
Egan also revealed that before going for walks, I’ve spoken to (the family). They are a diligent family. They are lovely builders who are always amiable.
Further, Pam said the family has three kids, and the youngest, now in his 20s, has a mental handicap.
The street is often “quiet and nice,” according to Willoughby Street locals. Anybody with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
On the other hand, Police suspect everyone involved in the event is acquainted with one another.
At first, they believed another individual who was presumed to be involved was still inside a nearby building, which led to an hour-long standoff.
But, Police now affirm that the man, later identified as Sanderson, had left the address, which is why a search was started.
At first, Victoria Police stated an “assault with an edged weapon” had occurred at a Willoughby Street residence in Reservoir at around 8:20 am.
Sanderson, 32, was later identified by the Police as being in the House and acquainted with the two victims.
He was “without incident” detained by Police in Preston at around 2:40 pm and would be questioned by detectives, according to the Police.
