Abby Phillip’s CNN Show Kicked Out Ryan Girdusky And Showed Support Towards Mehdi Hasan

On a recent Abby Phillip’s CNN NewsNight show, a heated argument between Ryan Girdusky and Mehdi Hasan created controversy.

@thetnhollerY’all — Ryan Girdusky, founder of the 1776 PAC that claims credit for the new extreme WILLIAMSON COUNTY school board members, just said something obscenely r*cist and offensive to @mehdirhasan live on CNN, then tried to apologize. Watch👇🏽 (H/T @acynig )♬ original sound – The TN Holler

Things between Girdusky and Hasan got worse when the conservative pundit said something that seemed to link Hasan to Hamas.

While arguing, Girdusky told Hasan,

“Well, I hope your beeper doesn’t go off”

After listening to that, Hasan got angry and asked if Girdusky was suggesting violence against him on TV. He said,

“Did you just say I should d*e? Did you just say I should be k*lled live on CNN?”

Hasan showed how upset he was and pointed out Phillip asking the show host,

“Did your guest just say I should be k*lled on live TV?”

As the atmosphere became tense, Girdusky apologized and made his intention clear. He also said that he thought Hasan was a Hamas supporter.

However, it was too late for Girdusky, as Phillip stepped in and said his comment was “out of pocket.”

Upon returning from the next commercial break, Phillip apologized to Hasan and informed the audience that Girdusky was asked to leave the show.

After recent controversial NewsNight episodes, CNN released a statement that read

“There is zero room for racism or bigotry at CNN or on our air. We aim to foster thoughtful conversations and debate, including between people who profoundly disagree with each other, in order to explore important issues and promote mutual understanding.”

Further, CNN explained,

“But we will not allow guests to be demeaned or for the line of civility to be crossed. Ryan Girdusky will not be welcomed back at our network.”

Phillip shared this message on her X account (formerly Twitter). She also uploaded an apology video to Mehdi Hasan.

Further, Phillip mentioned that Hasan is welcome to her show and was never asked to leave as they have a lot to talk about.

However, CNN NewsNight’s team, including Phillip, is facing some online backlash after their recent decision. Some are backing up Girdusky, and the MAGA panelist himself shared a tweet on it, saying

“You can stay on CNN if you falsely call every Republican a N@zi and have taken money from Qatar-funded media. Apparently, you can’t go on CNN if you make a joke. I’m glad America gets to see what CNN stands for.”
