Daniel Lyon, Australian Army, was one of the crew members of the MRH-90 Taipan Helicopter, which crashed while conducting military training at the water off Whitsunday Islands.

A tragic incident happened in Australia recently MRH-90 Taipan helicopter crashed during a military training exercise in the water off Queensland’s Whitsunday Islands.

Four crew members were there. They were Captain Daniel Lyon, Lieutenant Maxwell Nugent, Warrant Officer Joseph Laycock and Corporal Alexander Naggs.

As per 1 News, the members were from the 6th Aviation Regiment based at Holsworthy Barracks of Sydney.

 Some of the debris from the helicopter has been found, but the aircraft’s main body is still not recovered.

Furthermore, there is no evidence or details found about crew members. But the defense force is continuing its actions to find all the crew members.

Nothing can be said now, but there is still hope in the teams and crew member families that they might find their people safe.

Who Is Daniel Lyon Australian Army?

Daniel Lyon is an Australian soldier and was the flight MRH -90 Taipan helicopter captain. 

Sadly, the helicopter crashed at the local time of 10:30 pm on Friday, 28 July. He was with his other three crew members.

Until now, no evidence has been found about Daniel and his crew members, but there is still hope in the families for their return.

Daniel Lyon was from the 6th Aviation Regiment at the Holsworthy Barracks. Australian Army Chief Simon Stuart said all crew members were professional, skilled and experienced aviation units. They were considered a very tight team.

The place where the helicopter crashed, the Whitsunday region, is known for its strong currents. It was not an easy route, but such kind of experience was not new to the soldiers.

Captain Daniel Lyon was conducting joint military training with three other crew members. Their training was part of Exercise Talisman Sabre.

Ongoing Search Of The Crew Members

 Many police, defense forces, soldiers and civilians are putting much effort into finding those members and the helicopter.

Specialist navy divers have also become part of Queensland police, and crews from HMAS Brisbane contribute equally to the investigation.

Some public members have found crash materials and have been urged to inform investigators if they find something related to the helicopter again.

As per Defence Force Chief General Angus Campbell, the main focus for now is to find missing men. He also mentioned that the team would investigate to understand what occurred on the plane during the last moments before the crash.

By looking at the conditions, many people think that chance of the crew members being alive is somewhere gone. Some are losing hope, but the members are still trying to find evidence and recoveries. 

As per The Guardian, the prime minister, Anthony Albanese, started parliamentary question time on 31 July. There he expresses his condolences to the crew members’ families, friends and colleagues. 

Furthermore, Albanese thanked Canada and the United States for their participation in ADF for the investigation. He also thanked all the national defense forces and authorities for putting their effort into finding the members and the aircraft.

It was a very unfortunate and sad incident. We pray for victims and their families to regain strength from this tragic accident.
