On Wednesday, the KTVB family lost a cherished colleague and friend with the unexpected death of photojournalist and video editor Theresa Palmgren.
Theresa had barely gotten to work early Wednesday morning when she fell. Emergency medical personnel arrived promptly but were unable to resuscitate her.

Theresa will be remembered for her unfailing optimism, compassion, and empathy. She adored animals, particularly dogs. Her “children” were Peaches and Bandit, whom she adored. Bandit recently passed the “Rainbow Bridge” last fall.

“Today, our KTVB family is sad. Theresa Palmgren, our beloved photojournalist and video editor, died this morning. She was with our work family at the station when we lost her. We are horrified; it simply does not seem real.
We adore you, Theresa. Today, words cannot explain our anguish and sadness. You will be greatly missed.

Family members described Theresa Palmgren as having a good and honest nature. Several individuals are currently interested in learning more about her and determining the cause of their demise.
She went to work on Wednesday morning and died unexpectedly. While medical assistance arrived immediately, she was declared deceased. Her relatives and friends have not released any formal information about her demise. We will update this section if we learn anything new about her.
Her death occurred just a few days after the year anniversary of another KTVB colleague’s death, Larry Gebert, on April 1st, 2022. Because her own family was out of state, Theresa was quite close to Larry and his family.
Her “family” comprised everyone she knew and worked with, including KTVB employees, community contacts she made via work assignments, establishing and coaching community league volleyball and softball teams, First Thursdays, and the Boise LGBTQ community.

Theresa will be remembered for her genuine, all-encompassing hugs and for sharing sweets from her desk drawer “stash.”
Coworkers recounted anecdotes and experiences about working with Theresa, including one incident where she was accidentally attacked and slightly hurt while filming a high school football game.
After visiting a neighboring clinic, she proceeded with her duty and returned to the station with a bandaged forehead. Her main worry was that her photographic equipment remained unharmed.
Within hours after her death, social media was swamped with messages and condolences to Theresa from dozens of friends and acquaintances, including former KTVB and other station employees.
Theresa will be missed by those who knew her for her charming personality, contagious smile and sense of humor, professionalism, and attention to detail in her work, an almost daily element of KTVB newscasts and digital material.
Theresa Palmgren Age And Carrer Explored
Theresa grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School in 1999. She was a proud Vandal at the University of Idaho, where she studied visual communication and graduated in 2003.
She worked for Local News 8 in Idaho Falls on weekends and after graduation as a freelance photographer for the Idaho Falls Post Register newspaper.
She went to Spokane, Washington, in 2004 to work as a photographer/editor for KREM 2 News. She began working as a photographer and video editor for KTVB in Boise in 2005.
Palmgren monitored news content development as an editor, ensuring that stories were factual, informative, and attractive. She collaborated extensively with reporters and other journalists to ensure that the material they created matched KTVB’s high quality and journalistic integrity standards.
