Former American football quarterback Rodney Peete underwent a brain scan that revealed signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
Rodney Peete is a former American football player who the Detroit Lions picked in the 1989 NFL Draft (NFL). He formerly played football at the University of Southern California.
Peete is best known for his winning attitude and leadership, and he has played for various notable teams throughout his career, including the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and so on.
Once his football career ended, Peete pursued other interests, such as acting and hosting. He can generally be found anchoring numerous NFL and college preview, and recap shows on Fox, Fox.com, and ABC’s Sports Zone.

Is Rodney Peete Sick? Illness And Health Update
Rodney, 50, had lesions found during an MRI that may be a sign of chronic traumatic encephalopathy from the brain trauma he sustained from years of playing football (CTE). Peete participated in the NFL for 16 years.
According to the Concussion Legacy Foundation, CTE is a progressive, degenerative brain condition that frequently affects athletes, war veterans, and other persons who have repeatedly experienced brain trauma.
According to the Associated Press, the NFL predicts that 6,000 former players, or about one-third, could experience Alzheimer’s disease or moderate dementia due to concussions.
Peete has no symptoms, yet he can only be identified after he has passed away. To spread awareness of CTE, The Peetes have joined a Harvard University research that looks at the health problems experienced by former football players.
Rodney Peete is listed as a player advisor on the Football Players Health Study website. Unfortunately, due to injury, Peete missed a handful of games during his debut season.
The worst thing that could have occurred to an athlete like Rodney was that he sustained several injuries, yet he didn’t give up and kept playing.

Together with other family members, Peete has an older brother by the name of Skip Peete. Similarly, Skip is the running backs coach for the National Football League (NFL).
Peete used to take part in several sports and was quite active from a young age. Peete, as an illustration, participated in baseball, basketball, and football while attending Sahuaro High School.

Peete had a successful high school and college career before the Detroit Lions gave him his first professional opportunity by selecting him with the 141st overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft.

In 1997, Rodney and his wife, Holly Robinson Peete, established The HollyRod foundation as a nonprofit to benefit the neighborhood.
After learning that RJ, Holly and Rodney’s oldest son, has autism, the nonprofit was established.
Rodney and Holly were motivated to spread awareness and aid those affected by that disease due to their son’s condition.
The charity also strives to offer compassionate treatment to those suffering from Parkinson’s disease and autism. It seeks to give people and their families a higher quality of life.
