A Philadelphia man faces homicide while Intoxicated and other counts after investigators say he caused a tragic collision on Interstate 76 this weekend. According to Action News, the accident happened at 2 am. Saturday near the City Avenue exit on Interstate 76 West.
According to Fox 29, the victims were rideshare driver Jan Carlo Santana, 31, of Philadelphia, Tucker and Christian Schimelfenig, 23, and Michael Comerford, 24, all of Clarks Summit.

Officials have identified the four people killed in a Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) crash in Philadelphia early Saturday morning.

Troopers said Jan Carlo Santana, 31, of Philadelphia, along with Tucker Schimelfenig, 23, Christian Schimelfenig, 23, and Michael Comerford, 24, all of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, died in the wreck.
At the scene, authorities learned that one vehicle had veered across multiple lanes of traffic and collided with another. The first automobile swerved and flipped before stopping on the off-right ramp’s shoulder.
The second vehicle was rear-ended and driven forward into an I-76 West bridge pillar. Just before 2 am, Philadelphia Police responded to a report of a two-car collision with entrapments and injuries near the City Avenue exit.

The fatal accident that took Comerford’s life happened when a drunk driver collided with the automobile carrying Comerford and three other Clarks Summit, PA residents. All four people, including Comerford, were declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the first automobile, Victor Spizzirri, 31, was taken to Temple University Hospital with moderate injuries. According to Police, Spizzirri showed evidence of intoxication and was arrested for homicide by a car while driving under the influence and other offenses.

All three were Scranton natives who attended school and worked in the Delaware Valley. We met with Tucker’s boss, who said they were excellent young men if Tucker’s brother and buddy were anything like him.

Santana’s family and friends say they don’t know how to thoroughly explain the situation to his two daughters, ages seven and five.
