Authorities reported a 9-year-old girl and a local TV news team member was among three people killed and two others injured in gunfire in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday.

During a press conference, Orange County Sheriff John Mina stated that the staffers worked for Spectrum News 13. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said on Twitter that one individual had been apprehended.

Moses was formally charged with murder in the morning, according to Mina, and officials expect further charges for the four shootings in the afternoon.

Soon after that incident, Police responded to a third shooting on Harrington Street, where they discovered a lady and her 9-year-old daughter had been shot inside a residence. According to the sheriff, the 9-year-old has died.

The injured were sent to Orlando Regional Medical Center. CNN said the remaining crew member and the mother are in serious condition.

“I want to recognize what a terrible day this has been for our community and media partners,” Mina said during a press conference. The sheriff stated that it is unknown why the suspect entered that House.

Mina stated that they do not have an immediate motive for the shootings. “The suspect isn’t talking about anything right now,” Mina explained. “It’s unclear if he realized they were news reporters or not. We’re still trying to figure it all out.

Keith Melvin Moses, 19, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a shooting that occurred Wednesday morning, according to Mina. 

Moses is anticipated to face charges in four further shootings that happened later that day, including the death of the Spectrum News 13 Journalist.

According to the sheriff, Moses has a significant criminal history, including firearms offenses, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to Mina, deputies arrived at the 6100 block of Hialeah Street at 11 am. Wednesday, and discovered a lady in her 20s who had been shot and died due to her injuries.

According to Mina, the violent spree began at 11 am local time when deputies went to a gunshot and found a lady in her 20s who had been fatally shot.

Mina stated that Moses knew the victim. Later, soon after 4 pm, deputies received another report of two more gunfire close together.

Deputies discovered a reporter and photographer with Spectrum News 13 — who had been on the scene earlier that morning to cover a homicide — shot in or near their news truck in one area, Mina added.

Mina said it was unknown why the Spectrum News 13 crew members were targeted or whether the suspect even knew they were journalists.

According to Mina, one of the News 13 employees died due to their injuries after being brought to a hospital. Spectrum News 13 stated on its website that no information on the crew members engaged in the incident had been released.
