Oliver Schulz is an Australian serviceman or veteran.
He was awarded the Commendation for Gallantry for his service in Afghanistan.
Oliver has recently been charged with murder for an alleged war crime committed in Afghanistan, three years after a war crimes investigation uncovered potential illegal conduct by 19 Australian special forces soldiers.
According to a statement by the Australian Federal Police, Schulz was arrested in New South Wales state and charged with the murder of an Afghan man during his deployment in Afghanistan.
Oliver appeared in a Queanbeyan court on Monday, where his charge was mentioned and was remanded in custody until May 16, when he is due to appear in a Sydney court.

Oliver Schulz Video – 41-Year-Old Veteran Shot An Afghan Man To Death
Oliver Schulz, featured in an episode of ABC’s Four Corners in 2020, is seen in the video footage allegedly shooting an Afghan man in a wheat field in Uruzgan Province in 2012.
Australian Federal Police have arrested Oliver, a decorated veteran of the Special Air Service Regiment, as part of a two-year investigation into alleged war crimes committed by Australian soldiers in Afghanistan.
The Police arrested Schulz on Monday at an address in Goulburn, located in the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales.
According to a statement by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), it has been alleged that Schulz, while deployed to Afghanistan with the Australian Defence Force (ADF), committed the war crime of murder.
Schulz has been charged with this offense under the Commonwealth Criminal Code.
The case was mentioned in the Queanbeyan Local Court, where Schulz’s solicitor did not apply for bail.
An Australian veteran has been remanded in custody until May 16, when he is scheduled to appear at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court.
The charge is related to the shooting death of Afghan man Dad Mohammad during an ADF raid in May 2012 in Uruzgan Province in southern Afghanistan, revealed by ABC’s Four Corners program in March 2020.
Schulz was seen shooting Mohammad in the footage while the Afghan man was lying on the ground. If found guilty, Schulz could face life imprisonment.
Who Was The Killed Afgan Man?
The man whom Oliver Schulz allegedly shot was an Afghan man named Dad Mohammad.
He was a Father of two young girls in his 20s from the village of Deh Jawz-e Hasanzai in Uruzgan Province, southern Afghanistan.
The killing was captured in explosive footage from a helmet camera worn by a dog handler in Mr. Schulz’s patrol and broadcast in the Four Corners program, Killing Field.
Additionally, the footage shows a SAS dog attacking Mohammad in a field, after which Schulz aims his weapon at the man. Mohammad was in his 20s and came from the village of Deh Jawz-e Hasanzai.
Four Corners identified the deceased during their investigation and interviewed his Father and brother.
Mohammad’s Father questioned why his son had to be killed, while his brother noted that he was married and had two daughters, one of whom was only a month old.
On the other hand, the ADF investigated the killing following complaints from Afghan villagers.
Still, investigators cleared Schulz of any wrongdoing after being told that Mohammad had been carrying a radio and was shot in self-defense while “tactically maneuvering.”
