The tragic Monterey Park shooting has claimed the lives of 11 people and traumatized thousands.
The deadly massacre occurred during the Lunar New Year holiday in a city with a large Asian-American population.
“Huu Can Tran,” the culprit, shot and killed 11 individuals at a popular dancing studio, “Star Ballroom Dance Studio,” in the heart of Monterey Park, California.
The shooter was a 72-year-old man of Asian descent and used a pistol.
About 30 minutes after his initial assault, he went into another dance studio in Alhambra.
Thankfully, a 26-year-old man named Brandon Tsay snatched his gun from him before he could shoot anyone.

Monterey Park Shooting: Is The Suspect Huu Can In Jail?
No, the suspect, Huu Can Tran, was not arrested as he shot himself and died due to a gun wound.
After the assault, around 12 hours later, the guy committed suicide inside a white van as police closed in on him.
It is extremely uncommon for someone over 70 to commit a mass shooting.
Many have speculated the shooting was an outcome of a personal dispute with individuals that came to the dance studio.
Some information on Tran’s past has come to light, even though officials have not determined a motive.
He had at least one past run-in with the law when he was detained in 1994 for illegally possessing a gun.
A resident living in one of his properties claimed that Tran was hostile and did not have many friends.
Moreover, his major form of social interaction was ballroom dancing.
Aftermath Of The Shooting: 11 People Died, And 1 In Critical Condition
Huu Can Tran opened fire with 42 bullets during a Lunar New Year party at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park.
The Monterey Park shooting claimed the lives of eleven individuals and injured nine others.
Women between the ages of 63 and 65 were the victims so far.
Two ladies and five males in their 50s, 60s, or 70s make up the remaining casualties.
The alleged shooter was later discovered dead in a car by police. The police have given no motive.
The focus of the investigation is on prior encounters the shooter had with the two dancing schools he chose to target and whether jealousy over a relationship served as a motivation.
According to the sources, the investigation is still in its first stages.
Detectives, however, think that the shooter may have had a personal dispute.
They think Tran was experiencing an undefined emotional issue that worsened in the weeks following the shooting.
On January 7 and 9, Huu Can appear in the lobby of the Hemet Police Department twice, alleging theft and fraud.
He also claimed that his family had attempted to poison him in the Los Angeles region 10 to 20 years prior.
Despite promising to return with proof, he never did.
Investigators went into Tran’s Hemet, California, house and discovered a.308 calibre rifle and hundreds of rounds of ammo.
In addition, electrical equipment like computers, telephones, and other things made them believe he was making gun suppressors.
The story was heartbreaking to celebrate the Lunar New Year; thousands of people had gathered earlier in Monterey Park.
There were there to celebrate and have fun, but the tragic event became their worst nightmare.
Who Was Huu Can Tran?
Huu Can Tran was a 72-year-old Asian man who was fond of dancing and was a regular of the Star Ballroom Dance Studio.
According to friends, Huu Can provided informal lessons and even met his ex-wife there.
About twenty years ago, he introduced himself to his ex-wife at the dance studio and offered her free lessons.
He was married to her, but they divorced in 2005.
According to his ex-wife, he was never physically violent but was easily irritated if she misstepped while dancing.
After his divorce, Huu Can never re-married and had no girl in his life.
In 2002, Tran owned a business called “Tran’s Trucking” and held a current trucking license.
Records indicate that he resided in San Gabriel, close to Monterey Park, from the early 1990s until about 2014.
In 2020, Tran relocated to a mobile home in a Hemet, California, exclusive, gated senior community with a nine-hole golf course.
