Emily Dorman, a lively young woman who died in a sad accident, is remembered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Emily, an eighth-grade student from Harrisburg, was involved in a tubing accident on Lake Madison in South Dakota on July 6, 2023.
The event occurred when a jet ski crashed with the inner tube Emily was riding on, taking her life far too soon. According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Lake Madison on Monday afternoon, some 30 miles west of the Minnesota state line.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred Monday afternoon on Lake Madison, roughly 30 miles west of the Minnesota border.
Witnesses said a jet ski crashed with a small child in an innertube.
Emily Gorman, an eighth-grader from Harrisburg, was recognized as the girl. She died as a result of her injuries.
Emily was affectionately known as Emmy by those who knew her best, according to her mother, Stacy Gorman. She was a big fan of her family’s pugs, volleyball, root beer, and quesadillas.
Emily’s relatives described her as a terrific listener who was always ready to learn. Emily was just chosen to be a Harrisburg North Middle School Welcoming Team member.
“She was very pleased and delighted to be chosen to help those sixth students transition into middle school,” her father, Eric Gorman, said.
Emily spent her farewell day on Lake Madison doing what she loved: boating and tubing.
Since 2016, the Gormans have spent their summers on the lake. Emily was the middle child in a family of three girls.
Despite their inability to accept the catastrophe, Emily’s parents expressed gratitude for their time with their daughter.
“I’m simply so pleased to be Emmy’s mother,” Stacy Gorman said. “She provided me with the finest years of my life.”
“I couldn’t be prouder to be her father,” Eric Gorman said.
Emily’s funeral will be conducted at Central Church the following week. The Harrisburg School District also counsels students.
