A Santa Barbara man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing a gun through the front door of a San Bernardino County home and nearly killing an elderly person inside.
Gabriel Arce, 34, faces serious charges in what investigators call an “unprovoked attack” on February 28 in Highland, a town east of San Bernardino.
Ring doorbell footage from a nearby apartment captured the suspect struggling with the gun for over 20 seconds before firing four rounds through the apartment’s front door.
Thanks to this video, authorities identified the alleged suspect as Gabriel Arce, a resident of Santa Barbara. He was arrested on March 14 by Highland Sheriff’s Station investigators, with the assistance of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Gang/Narcotic Division and California Department of Correction Officers.

The incident involving Gabriel Arce occurred on February 28, 2023, when he allegedly fired four rounds from a handgun through the front door of a home in the 7000 block of Central Avenue in Highland, San Bernardino County.
