Cynthia Peak was a teacher who was killed in a school shooting in Nashville, and the shooting suspect was identified as Audrey Hale.
According to a family acquaintance, a substitute teacher slain in a shooting at The Covenant Presbyterian School in Tennessee on Monday, March 27, was a native of Leesville.
At a private Christian college in Nashville on Monday, three children and three staff members were killed by a heavily armed former student who then fired through a barred school entrance, according to officials.

In the shooting at the primary school in the Nashville area, four people—three adults and three children—were slain, including Cynthia Peak, 61.

Cynthia Peak was a teacher slain in a school shooting in Nashville on Monday, and her family is still grieving her death.
The other two adult fatalities were identified as Dr. Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61, a custodian. Evenlyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, three nine-year-old victims, were identified.
A 28-year-old former student at the institution was named as the shooting suspect by Metro Nashville Police during a news conference. Hale was slain by law enforcement, according to authorities.

According to investigators, Audrey Hale had meticulously organized the attack at The Covenant School on Burton Hills Boulevard. “There were detailed blueprints of the school, surveillance, and entrance points,” Drake explained.
An official claimed the gunman, who was slain on the school’s second floor, had two “assault-type rifles and a pistol.”
According to investigators, Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney were the three pupils slain. Children from preschool through sixth grade were bused to Woodmont Baptist Church, two miles away, where they were reunited with their parents.
Police claimed that they first got reports about the shooter at 10:13 am (11:13 am ET) and that Nashville firemen, At 10:39 am, they first claimed that their staff was dealing with an “active aggressor.”
“The Police department reaction was swift,” Police spokeswoman Don Aaron told reporters.
Who Was Cynthia Peak? Family Mourns The Death
Peak was reared in Leesville but spent most of her childhood in Vernon Parish. When her family moved to Shreveport in 1977, she finished her sophomore year at Leesville High School. Peak’s Father was a local doctor who ran the Broyles Clinic in Leesville until it closed.
Peak completed high school at Captain Shreve High School in 1979 and college at TCU in 1983.
While she did not graduate from Leesville High School, a family acquaintance stated that she returned to Leesville throughout the years and attended LHS reunions. Peak and her family formerly resided in Alabama and, most recently, Tennessee.
Her spouse, a daughter, and two boys survive her.

Peak’s family has not lately spoken out about her passing, but it is apparent that her loss has had a tremendous impact on those who knew and loved her.
According to its website, the Covenant School employs 33 instructors with an 8-to-1 student-instructor ratio. On a typical day of class, 209 pupils and 42 staff members would be present, according to Aaron.
The school, which shares the same address as the church, was formed in 2001 as a ministry of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
The Fire brigade assisted in escorting the youngsters out of the school, attempting to protect them from witnessing the horror.
