Victoria Azarenka

Victoria is a professional tennis player from Belarusian. She is one of the few players to challenge Serena Williams in the last decade. 

Azarenka is the only player from Belarusian to win a Grand Slam singles title. 

As of 2024 she ranks at world number 16. At the 2012 Olympics, she bagged the bronze medal.

One-time Singles Grand Slam champion Victoria made her debut in 2013 in Israel on the ITF junior. She won the doubles title.

In the 2004 season, she qualified for the semifinals at Wimbledon and reached 508 on WTA singles at the end season.

In 2005 Azarenka’s career spiked up, and she smiled as she grabbed two junior Grand Slams: the Australian Championships.

The ITF ranked Victoria the ‘world number one’ in 2005. She is the first professional tennis player from Belarusian to be declared the ‘2005 World Champion.’

Victoria began her 2009 season at the Brisbane International and won her first “WTA career title.”

She continued her winning streak in 2009 as she bagged the Cellular South Cup Championship. She also won “Tier 1 or Premier Mandatory event title” after she defeated Serena Williams. 

She is the teenage female singles champion in the history of this tournament and was ranked ‘world number seven’ by the end of the 2009 season.

Who Is Victoria Azarenka Coach António van Grichen?

The first teenage female singles champion of “Tier 1” Victoria, António van Grichen started coaching her in 2005.

António van Grichen was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on October 3, 1978. He is best known for coaching of former WTA world number 1 player.

At the end of the 2009 season, Van Grinnchen ended his association with Azarenka.

Van Grinnchen started coaching Vera Zvonareva in 2010. Under his association and guidance, the player went on to win the 2010 PTT Pattaya Open.

Vera and Van parted ways only after two months following the incident in a match against his former player Victoria, Dubai.

In December 2010, he started coaching Ana Ivanovic on a trial basis and parted ways in February 2011 following Ivanovic’s unsuccessful run at the Australia Open Campaign. 

In March 2014, Van started coaching Monica Puig, who won her first singles title at the 2014 Internationaux de Strasbourg.

Victoria Azarenka’s full name is Victoria Fyodarauna Azarenka was born on July 31, 1989, in Minsk, Belarus. 

She moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2002 and again moved in 2012 to Monaco.

Victoria was born to Fedor Azarenka, father and Alla Azarenka, mother. She is not the only child of her parents.

Alla Azarenka, her mother, has a big hand in her career as a professional tennis player as she is the one who introduced her to this sport game when she was seven years old.
