Hayley Squires was raised by her parents, older brother, and mother. She was born Hayley McGinty in 1988 in Forest Hill, South London. Her mother worked as a cook at her school, while her Father owned a video store.
Squires was raised in Forest Hill, southeast London, by her mother, Father, and brother.
They moved to Sittingbourne, Kent, when she was 14 years old. It was a difficult time to relocate. “That was a hassle,” she admits. Her brother is 18 months older, so he may have cared after her at school, but it sounds like a trying period.
She earned her BSc (Hons) in acting from Rose Bruford College in Sidcup in 2010, where she also graduated alongside her close friend and fellow Actor David Carlyle.
Hayley is inked with the phrase “And though she is but little, she is fierce” from A Midsummer Night’s Dream under her left arm.
She began applying to acting programs when she was 18 and got accepted to Rose Bruford College. She took a year off to work and save money, but most was spent attending clubs.
Is Hayley Squires married?
Hayley has avoided discussing her romantic relationships publicly and hasn’t said whether she’s now dating anyone. Also, she has avoided discussing relationships on her Instagram page, where she frequently posts pictures of her daily activities.
In an interview with The Observer from back in 2017, Hayley talked about a recent breakup and said it was the catalyst for her obtaining her first tattoo.
She said: “For a short while, I had been romantically involved with someone, which had made me a little crazy.
Then, just before my birthday, he vanished from my life.” She ultimately decided to get the Shakespearean proverb “And though she is but small, she is fierce” permanently inked on her arm.
Hayley Squires Career
Before being chosen to play Katie in I, Daniel Blake, she was acting, albeit inconsistently.
In 2013, she appeared in Call the Midwife and Southcliffe, but she mainly created plays and worked in an office in London to make ends meet.
She eventually established a departure date from the official position, which coincided closely with Ken Loach making contact.
Hayley hasn’t taken a break from her job for the past seven years. She is “brain fried” after her 12-week run in the West End, where she stole the show as the flashy, sassy, and violent Mae in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, starring Sienna Miller and Jack O’Connell.
Her work on The Miniaturist, slated to be one of the BBC’s major holiday extravaganzas, is complete, and she will soon be seen in Peter Strickland’s most recent film.
