Taran Nolan Car Accident
On a foggy morning on September 10th, 2020, a tragic event forever changed the lives of the Nolan family.
Taran Nolan, a dynamic entrepreneur and mother of four, was driving her three younger children back home in South Carolina when they were involved in a devastating head-on collision.
The force of the accident was so severe that it resulted in Nolan being paralyzed from the neck down.
In the horrific aftermath, Taran’s three children were extracted from the wreckage in critical condition, bearing severe burns from the fiery crash.
Tragically, the accident claimed the life of the youngest member of the Nolan family, 3-year-old Micki.
This heart-wrenching incident deeply impacted the Nolan family and the broader community who knew and loved them.
The accident news shook Jimmy Nolan, Taran’s husband, and their eldest child, Paisley, who was scheduled to meet the rest of the family in South Carolina the following day.
Instead, Jimmy found himself in a race against time, rushing from Southern California to join his family in their darkest hour.
The devastation continued when Jimmy had to inform Taran about the loss of their beloved daughter Micki while she fought for her life in a hospital bed. A high school football coach, Jimmy found himself in a new role overnight.
From being a dedicated coach, he had to become a full-time caretaker for his wife and children, a role he bravely assumed amidst the tragedy.
What Happened To Taran Nolan?
In the aftermath of the accident, the Nolan family found unexpected solace and support from Walking With Anthony (WWA), a foundation dedicated to spinal cord injury support.
The connection with WWA seemed like a fateful sign to Jimmy and Taran. The founder of WWA, Micki Nolan (Purcell), shared the same name as their departed daughter and had a history of spinal cord injury in her family.
WWA was founded in 2010 after Micki’s son Anthony was paralyzed due to a diving accident in Miami, Florida.
Micki was thrust into spinal cord injury (SCI) with little knowledge or resources to best care for her son.
After discovering that Anthony’s insurance would only cover 20 days of the recommended 3-6 months of intensive rehab for SCI victims, Micki was resolved to do something about it.
This shared experience and struggle with spinal cord injury made the Nolans feel that they had found an ally in WWA. Their interaction with Micki Nolan (Purcell) and WWA gave them hope and strength.
This was a beacon of light for the Nolan family amid a tumultuous storm. Today, Taran Nolan continues her fight and journey of rehabilitation with unyielding courage and resilience.
Nolan exemplifies the human spirit’s capacity to endure and adapt to adversity. Her story is a testament to her strength, a shining example of community support, and the power of organizations like WWA that step in when traditional systems fail.
