Paul Prowant Death has been trending on social media as the driver was sentenced to 14 years behind bars for reckless driving and aggravated DUI.

A 24-year-old Illinois woman who hit and killed a couple, Andrea and Paul Prowant, in Lorain County, while driving under the influence in April 2022 received a jail term.

According to the Police, the woman struck Andrea Rosewicz and Paul Prowant as they were leaving while she was driving under the influence.

According to the authorities, the woman’s blood alcohol level was approximately three times the legal limit.

Paul Prowant Death: How Did He Die?

Paul Richard Prowant, 55, of Avon Lake, Ohio, died on Sunday, April 10, 2022, as a result of a terrible, sad accident in which he was struck by a drunk motorist in East Peoria, Illinois, while out on a stroll with his partner Andrea. 

In the 3800 block of North Main Street in East Peoria, Illinois, on April 10, 2022, around 10:15 pm, Stephanie Melgoza was driving a car when it struck Paul Prowant and his partner Andrea.

Paul Prowant and Andrea were both taken to the hospital due to their significant injuries, where Paul Prowant ultimately passed tragically. After being detained, Stephanie Melgoza was charged with aggravated DUI and reckless murder.

Melgoza, 23, was detained after an investigation into an aggravated DUI that caused death, marijuana possession, and carrying or transferring alcohol.

His parents, Janet Lee Whittaker (Frank) and Ralph E. Prowant welcomed him on February 25, 1967, in Cleveland, Ohio.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Agency (NHTSA) estimates that one person dies in a drunk driving accident in the United States every 50 minutes, or over 30 people daily. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s data show (CDC) drugs other than alcohol are a factor in around 18% of all fatal car accidents in the country.

Paul worked for American Bridge and belonged to Iron Worker Local 17. He enjoyed moving about and traveling and had the spirit of a traveler. 

He was excellent at making new acquaintances and was often meeting new people. A lovable character with a larger-than-life attitude, a loyal friend who was constantly ready to provide a hand to people in need.

Paul could make you both love and loathe him simultaneously because he was a big talker who might be full of BS. It’s impossible to put into words how much we shall miss him.

His devoted siblings Linda Ibriham, Ralph Prowant (Jennifer), and Cynthia Thomas, as well as his cherished aunts and uncles Janet Rashke and Millie Tatsch, survive him.
