His parents uprooted his life and that of his siblings, Kelli Fox, Karen, Jacki, and Steven, when they decided to move to Vancouver, British Columbia, after his father’s retirement from the Canadian Army Signal Corps.
Tragically, Michael J. Fox lost his father, William Fox, to a heart attack on January 6, 1990. Subsequently, Michael J. Fox’s mother, Phyllis Fox (née Piper), passed away in September 2022.

Fox and Pollan exchanged vows and became husband and wife on July 16, 1988, at the beautiful West Mountain Inn in Arlington, Vermont.

Michael J. Fox developed early-onset Parkinson’s disease in 1991 while filming Doc Hollywood.
Fox initially struggled with depression and alcohol abuse following his diagnosis, but later sought help and quit drinking altogether.
In 2012, he received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the Justice Institute of British Columbia for his performing achievements and dedication to raising funds and awareness for Parkinson’s disease.
The TV Personality founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and has raised over $1 billion for research.
Fox received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2022 for his work fighting Parkinson’s disease.
He has undergone spinal surgery and suffered broken bones from falls related to Parkinson’s disease. Despite this, he remains committed to raising awareness and funds for Parkinson’s research.
