Marach Yai is the brother of an American model, Anok Yai.

He fell into the limelight when sentenced to two to six years in state prison for robbery during a drug deal that led to him being shot five times in Manchester in 2019.

After being imprisoned since the robbery, Yai will be eligible for parole once she serves approximately eight months at the New Hampshire State Prison.

During a video hearing in the Hillsborough County Superior Court, Yai expressed his desire to move to California, where his sister resides, and pursue higher education once he is released from prison.

Further, Yai pleaded guilty to robbery and criminal restraint after he brought a gun to a West Side alley to steal THC vape cartridges from a man.

However, the seller dropped the cartridges, and as Yai tried to pick them up, Stephen Cefalo shot him five times.

Anok has raised concerns about her brother’s medical treatment and authorities’ refusal to allow the family to see him in the hospital immediately after the shooting. Currently out on bail, Cefalo is set to go on trial in April.
