Early Life and Education
The musician Matt Heafy was born on January 26, 1986, in Iwakuni, Japan. Originally named Matthew Kiichi Heafy, he is the son of a Japanese mother and an American father. His father was the former Marine Corps and is half Irish and half German. However, he has not disclosed his parent’s name or their whereabouts. But we do know he has a sister named Michelle Heafy.
Similarly, Matt is of mixed ethnicity and holds American citizenship. His family moved to Orlando, Florida, when he was just a baby and had been residing there ever since.

Matt Heafy ventured into a music career ever since he picked guitar at the age of eleven. Because of it, he even auditioned for a local band, ‘Freshly Squeezed‘ with Blink-182 song ‘Dammit.’ Unfortunately, he never cut.
After that, Matt was introduced to the heavy metal genre by one of his classmates. In fact, his friend gave him a copy of Metallica‘s self-titled album. Soon he began indulging himself in the more metal songs.

After being together for eight years, the couple announced they were expecting twins on September 15, 2018. Soon after the announcement, the couple welcomed the twins, daughter Mia Kiyomi and son Akira Hiro on November 11, 2018.
During this period, Matt returned home after finishing the tour with Howard Jones and Johannes Eckerstorm to be with his wife and children. So far, the couple is living a free and blissful life out of controversies. Also, he is residing with his family in Orlando, Florida.
