Last week, Irish police (Gardai) started a murder investigation after saying they were unable to locate Kyran or identify information on his whereabouts.
They said they believe Kyran is missing and presumed dead. On Monday, October 21, 2024, police took possession of a private house in Dundalk, which will be searched later, as well as the garden and adjoining ground.
At the press conference, Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern stood outside Dundalk Garda station flanked by two images of the missing Kyran Durnin.
Alan confirmed the search location was a house in Emer Terrace, Dundalk. The property was known to have been the Kyran family home for years until May 2024.
He also explained that the house, garden, and adjoining open ground would be examined forensically and technically.
Kyran’s Mother, Dayla Durnin, Also Disappeared Along With Him
Kyran Durnin, 8, was born to his mother, Dayla Durnin, 2016 in Dublin, Ireland.
His mother, Dayla Durnin, 24, was born in 2000 in County Louth, Ireland, to her mother, Rhonda Byrne Tyson.
She was diagnosed with type one diabetes and spent most of the summer in the hospital. Dayla had to inject herself five times a day.
When Dayla went missing, she was believed to be wearing white New Balance runners with navy lettering and grey camouflage leggings.
On the night that Dayla was last seen by her mother, she left a note on the table of the Drogheda home in which she wrote,
“needed to get away for a few days”.
According to the source, Dayla has been located alive in the UK. However, with no sign of the missing son Kyran, investigators in Drogheda declared a murder inquiry.
This occurred minutes after the missing person’s report for Dayla stood down.
On the other hand, the details of Dayla’s husband, Kyran’s biological father, have been kept private. It is known that his father was born in Ireland to his mother, Jacqueline Leydon.
