According to Yvette, she saw two or three young men pass by her car with a visible gun. She tried to call her mother to warn her, but her mother did not pick up. Moments later, gunshots rang out.
Unfortunately, both Maldonado and 23-year-old Juan Sarrarez lost their lives that day. Maldonado died the following day from her injuries. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
