Mckeesport Shooting Suspect has been arrested and charged by the Officers after responding to a domestic disturbance complaint on Wilson Avenue.

A man has been accused in connection with the death of one police officer and the injury of another following a shooting in McKeesport on Monday.

Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance complaint on Wilson Avenue when they came across the suspect on Grandview Avenue.

Allegheny County police say the suspect pulled out a weapon and fired.

Allegheny County Police said McKeesport officers responded at about 12:11 pm to a domestic-related disturbance report in the 1400 block of Wilson Street.

Police claimed they were informed about a guy in a mental health crisis and were cautioned that he could be armed.

Johnathan Morris has been charged with the shooting of two McKeesport Police officers.

According to court paperwork acquired by KDKA-TV, Criminal homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault on a peace officer, and aggravated assault are the charges against Morris.

During a gunfight with a third cop, the suspect, Johnathan Morris, was also injured and brought to the hospital. He is now facing charges.

Johnathan Morris’ mother, Candance Taylor, is a former McKeesport Police officer, according to KDKA-TV.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were summoned to Morris’ House after his mother reported that her son was “going through a PTSD episode “and was “aggressive” toward her.

Morris’s mother allegedly informed cops that he had a gun.

According to the complaint, when Police arrived on the scene, the mother told investigators that her son had fled the House.

He was subsequently discovered fleeing, and an officer, later identified as Sluganski, radioed, “Watch his right hand in the pocket; it seems pretty heavy.”

Another officer, later identified as Thomas, radioed in that rounds were fired, and he was struck. He retaliated by shooting Morris in the leg.

According to the complaint, Morris fled to the Uni-Mart parking lot on Versailles Avenue and informed two persons that he had been shot.

According to the complaint, Morris fired at a third McKeesport officer while the two witnesses were assisting him. He was later apprehended.

Was Officer Sean Sluganski Shot To Death During CrossFire?

Officer Sean Sluganski was killed, and Officer Charles Thomas was critically injured but is presently in stable condition.

According to an Allegheny County press statement, the officer slain was Sean Sluganski, 32.

Sluganski had been with the department for two years after joining in January 2020.

Charles Thomas, Jr., 35, was recognized as the injured officer. According to the county announcement, Thomas has been in force for four years.

He has been released from the hospital and is currently recuperating at home.

“This is a devastating loss for our department and our community,” said Amie M. Downs, county director of communications.

“We’ve lost a friend, a valued colleague, and an officer whose passion was public service.”

“The suspect proceeded around the corner to the junction of Versailles Avenue and Patterson Avenue, where a third McKeesport Police approached him.

He pulled out another pistol and shot at the officer, “Kearns stated. “There was a gunfight, and the person was injured.”
