Three accused were sentenced to death in July 2019, and their lawyer stated he would appeal. On December 21, 2018, the victims’ bodies were transferred to Copenhagen, Denmark. 

On January 12, Jespersen’s burial was conducted in Ikast, Denmark. The funeral was attended by Denmark’s Prime Minister, Lars Lkke Rasmussen. 

Ueland was laid to rest on January 21 at Jaeren, Norway. The Norwegian Minister of Health, Bent Hie, and the Moroccan Ambassador, Lamia Radi, attended the event.

The news of the attack sparked widespread outrage and condemnation in Morocco. The event was widely reported in the worldwide news.

The victims’ native nations reacted with astonishment and fury. In honor of Ueland’s family and loved ones, a public torchlight vigil was conducted in her hometown of Bryne.
