The former wife of George Wassouf, Shalimar Shalabi Wassouf, is a Syrian citizen who lives in Syria with her kids. She was born in the sixties of the last century in the State of Syria. 

She went to Syrian schools and spoke the Arabic language and the Syrian dialect alongside English. There are no details about her personal life on the Internet.

Nevertheless, when she married the famous singer George, Shalimar Wassouf grabbed people’s attention. Since her divorce, she has kept her life far from the media limelight.

Inside The Family Of Shalimar Wassouf

George Wassouf and Shalimar Wassouf had a family of five with three children. The former couple welcomed Wadih, Hatem, and George Jr together. 

Shalimar and George lost their firstborn, Wadih, in January of 2023. His relatives confirmed that he died from complications after gastric bypass surgery.

He passed away on Friday night after some complications arose amid the surgery. After the discharge, Wadih suffered internal stomach bleeding and was rushed back to the hospital.

He took his last breath Friday in his hospital bed in Mar Yousef hospital in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The singer had a panic attack and had to go to the hospital after he heard the news of his son’s death. 

 They will have the funeral on Sunday morning at the Church of St. Nicholas of the Greek Orthodox in the Beirut district of Achrafieh, per George’s page. 

Moreover, they will then transfer his body to his hometown of Kfarum. The family will have an incense prayer for his comfort at five in the afternoon in the church of Meter Elias. 

Per the reports, condolence will be accepted on Saturday, in the hall of St Nicholas Church, from 12–6 pm and at St Elias Church hall, until 7 pm. 

His fellow singers and his fans paid tribute to the untimely death of Wadih. Likewise, Lebanese singers, including  Najwa Karam, Nawal Zoghbi, Wael Kfoury, Nancy Ajram, and Assi Halani, paid their tribute. 

The family has kept it low-key at the time of their grief.
