In 2019, Mr. Yousaf tied the knot with Nadia El-Nakla, a qualified psychotherapist. Recently, in 2022, Ms. El-Nakla won a seat as an SNP councilor in Dundee.

Yousaf’s family lives in Broughty Ferry, although he is the MSP for Glasgow Pollok, and his wife El-Nakla represents the City West ward as an SNP councilor.

Humza Yousaf’s Political Career

Yousaf initiated his political journey by aiding several MSPs, including Bashir Ahmad, who was the first Muslim and Asian MSP in the Scottish Parliament.

In 2011, Yousaf secured his initial appointment to the Scottish Parliament, representing the Glasgow region.

From serving as the Minister for External Affairs and International Development (2012), Minister for Europe and International Development (2014), to Minister for Transport and the Islands (2016), Humza has served the government many times.

He won his re-election bid for the Glasgow seat in 2021 and was appointed Health and Social Care Secretary for Scotland in the same year.

Following Sturgeon’s resignation, Yousaf initiated his “Humza For Scotland” Campaign and was declared the victor of the leadership ballot on March 27, 2023.
