As per Daily Mail, Oliver was a passenger on a tandem flight from Signal Hill. Unfortunately, his craft collided with another Tandem paraglider.
The crash happened above the Sea Point Promenade. Oliver’s flight pilot used a reserve parachute and landed safely in the sea.

It seems that Oliver hit the rocks, fell into the water, and died in the incident. Later he was pulled out by rescue swimmers, and CPR was used for some time by Paramedics, but sadly Greig Oliver passed away and could not be saved.
The pilot and passenger of another paraglider both landed safely, and Oliver’s pilot also had to go through minor injuries.
