Felix Auger-Aliassime was raised in the Quebec City suburb of L’Ancienne-Lorette after being born in Montreal, Canada.

His mother, a psychology teacher, Marie Auger, is of French-Canadian ancestry, and his father, Sam Aliassime, is of African heritage who emigrated from Togo.

Sam is a tennis coach who assisted in his son’s game growth and professional tennis career.

He continued working with his father until he was 13 years old, at which point he switched to professional coaches to help him improve even further.

The father-son duo shared love of tennis grew their relationship closer on many levels.

His father’s main objective has been to ensure that he stays humble with strong morals.

In addition, his parents wanted their son to have both surnames to honour their mixed heritage, and that’s what he did. 

Felix grew up with his older sister, Malika, a tennis player.

He began playing tennis when he was four years old and trained at the Club Avantage in Quebec City as a member of the Académie de Tennis Hérisset-Bordeleau.

He won the “Open Super Auray” for kids aged 11 to 12 in 2012.

Since fall of 2014, Felix has participated at Tennis Canada’s National Training Center in Montreal.

At a young age, Auger-Aliassime started participating in the professional tour. He is among seven players to win a Challenger title by age of 16.

At the G3 in Querétaro in February 2015, Felix won his first ITF junior singles championship.

He won his maiden doubles title and his second consecutive ITF junior singles victory at the G4 in Zapopan a week later.

In September 2016, in the US Open, he defeated Miomir Kecmanovi in straight sets to claim the boys’ singles championship.

At 18, Auger-Aliassime advanced to the Rio Open championship game as the youngest-ever ATP 500 finalist.

After reaching eight ATP finals, he finally claimed his first victory at the Rotterdam Open in February 2022.

The same year, at Firenze Open, he won his second career victory.
