A Salt Lake City detective was caught wrestling a screaming nurse next to the Utah University emergency room on July 26, 2017.

In the video, a Utah police officer is clearly seen dragging the nurse out of the hospital in handcuffs.

A human resources employee confirmed on August 31, 2022, that the former police officer now serves at Weber County Jail.

Detective Jeff Payne was hired by the Weber County Jail on August 9, 2022, to work part-time in a position that does not offer benefits.

The sheriff officially confirmed that Jeff Payne serves as a civilian corrections assistant and works in the jail’s medical unit.

Sheriff officials addressed that former detective Jeff Payne is a certified paramedic. He has an extensive background in the medical department.

However, Mr. Payne was not assisted to be a corrections or law enforcement officer.

The sheriff’s office in Weber County stands by its decision to assist Jeff Payne as a civilian employee. Also, they wish him success at the sheriff’s office.
