A man who murdered his Edmonton-raised wife in North Carolina near their House 12 years ago is set to be deported back to Canada.

She went missing on July 12, 2008. Her spouse said she went running and never returned. Nancy’s strangled body was discovered two days later in an incomplete subdivision after an intensive search.

Hundreds of volunteers searched the Lochmere neighborhood of Cary until her corpse was discovered in a cul-de-sac of an incomplete subdivision approximately 3 miles from the Cooper residence. She’d been strangled to death.

Authorities soon identified her husband as her murderer, citing the couple’s poor marriage and concerns about his activities following her abduction.
Brad Cooper was apprehended three months later, although his trial did not begin until March 2011.
The 36-day trial included testimony concerning money squabbles, extramarital relationships, and an internet search of the region where Nancy Cooper’s body was subsequently discovered.
Brad Cooper was found guilty of first-degree murder by a jury and sentenced to life in prison.
Nancy Cooper Murder Case – Is Bradley Cooper Free Now?
Bradley (Brad) Cooper, 47, was freed on Monday from the Mountain View Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, where he was serving a term for second-degree murder.
Cooper, from Medicine Hat, was convicted of first-degree murder in the 2008 death of his wife, Nancy Cooper and sentenced to life in prison. Still, the North Carolina Supreme Court granted a retrial in January 2014.
Nevertheless, in 2013, the Texas Court of Appeals reversed the decision and ordered a new trial.
Brad Cooper pled guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 12-15 years in prison in 2014. He was freed from jail in 2020 and was expected to be deported back to Canada.
But, two years later, the state Court of Appeals reversed the decision and ordered a new trial, stating that the trial judge erred by not allowing significant defense testimony to be introduced.
“It was sad for the family and all of us when he was convicted of first-degree murder, and it was reversed,” said Alice Stubbs, an attorney representing Nancy Cooper in her divorce.
As a result, based on the facts available, Brad Cooper has served his sentence and been freed from jail. He was not, however, freed on bail and is anticipated to be deported back to Canada.
Bradley Cooper Plea And Charges Explored
The plea agreement included a provision allowing Cooper’s two teenage kids to be adopted by a family in Canada. The daughters had been living with Nancy’s family for almost a decade.
According to NBC-affiliated television station WRAL-TV in Raleigh, with whom Global News collaborated while covering Cooper’s trial, Cooper is scheduled to be deported back to Canada.
According to WRAL, Cooper would be taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement upon his release from jail since he is a convicted felon who is not a U.S. citizen, and the deportation process would begin.
The Canadian Department of Justice refused to acknowledge or deny the existence of an extradition request from the United States, claiming that such requests constitute private communications between governments.
