Her parents are mental health professionals, and her mother’s mother was a Holocaust survivor who immigrated to the United States from Budapest, Hungary, after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.
Borstein was married to Actor and writer Jackson Douglas, whom she met while studying improv at the ACME Comedy Theatre. They got engaged while taping a skit for MADtv and were married in 1999.
The couple has two children, a son and a daughter. However, Douglas filed for divorce in 2014, and it was finalized in 2017.
